Starting photography in college on the 28th August. Need to get a film camera for b/w photography. Any tips for me?

If you need a film slr, then the best one, in my opinion. Is the Pentax K1000. It's completely manual, but that's the best way to learn.

My dad had it from the 70's and then gave it to me to use in the Photography class I was taking. I ended up keeping it and investing in lenses. It's really a great film slr.

You can find it used on e.Bay or Amazon for pretty cheap.

Thank's I will try and get that one then. :D

Depends on pricing though.

At the moment I think the prices are a tad high, but only a tad. If I get one for £40-£50 I will be happy.

You might be better buying from the US e.bay or Amazon and having it shipped to you. The prices for the actual camera are cheaper, and at least on e.bay, they might have decent shipping prices.

That's the best one I could find for the price.

I actually have 2 of the Pentax K1000's from when I bought the lenses. But I don't know how it'd work if you wanted to buy from me. =-\

(replace the **** with e.bay (no period of course))

If I sold mine to you, I'd only charge you £40 with shipping. If you can think of a way for us to do it. Up to you of course. Otherwise, you'll just have to hope for a low priced one on e.bay. =-\

Sounds good. I don't have any money at the moment though, I could just give you the money through paypal and give you my address.

But I need to know if you're trusted. (no offence)

(oh but i need a lens too)

I haven't done a trade on here in a really long time. =-\

So, I'm not sure how I'd be vouched for. My camera has a 50mm fixed-focal lens with it, I believe. It's 50 or 35. I'd have to look. The only thing you might need is a button battery for the light meter.
