Im worried about getting a cheap speedlite though, that was something I was planning to spend a bit more on. I feel like it might be a waste of money to get a cheap one, you know?
The whole soft box thing just confuses me
Can you explain the setup a little more? Maybe with pictures? Haha.
I have a TON of fabric backdrops, as well as paneling that I got from Lowe's. But Im doing my first newborn shoot soon, and Id like to use something a little nicer :x
Also if anyone has any links for a better setup Id appreciate it (for softboxes, since that seems to be the better choice).
E: Also keep in mind that my main lighting will still be natural light. I just need something extra to pump it up and kill yucky shadows.
Ex: Dark on his right, only light was from a window, and reflector.http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7225/6992799760_0c319d59ff_z.jpg
i will do that for you tomorrow, with pictures, links and all
yongnuo make excellent speedlites, build quality is great and they work perfectly, i have 3 and not had a problem with them
the flash should be your main light, you can use ambient and/or reflector as a fill light

If I may take advantage of your topic to ask a question also...
Which is better or easier to use.... an umbrella with a flash or with continuous lighting?
I also am confused by indoor light...
constant lighting needs to be plugged in etc but speedlites use batteries so that helps a lot and is 1 of the main reasons to go that route (studio strobes also need power)
constant lighting i guess is easier as you can see what the outcome is gonna be, with speedlites it takes a little practice, but it is in no way difficult and you will pick it up quickly
