just got new slr wanna take picture of my pet kitty and doggy but i need tips. do i need new lense?

compositionally i would suggest laying down on their level to get a more interesting shot. also, make sure your settings are set to capture them in motion without blurring their fur.

my wife just had to get a hat for ferris on his first b-day.. haha

I took this the day I got my T2i with stock lens and the quality was truncated when I posted this to facebook :/

I'm lost...Anyway, your depth of field will be pretty limited since the stock will have around 3.6 fstop.
