i did not want to jack another thread so i'm creating this one for a discussion on the likes/dislikes of the new CS6 demo and/or pre-release.

What did you like about cs6? I've only used it for a half hour or so and the only upgrade that I was really happy about was the fact that they added paragraph styles rolf.

i was first pleased with the gui differences. the small changes to the toolbar and window panes were exactly what i wanted from the new version. not to mention the overall look is more symbiotic with LR.

i have also made use of the liquify feature that utilizes my systems gpu and LOVE it.
i am aware that cs6 makes streamlines use of the gpu in other areas too, to speed up overall performance. i have noticed this too.

i have used the content aware patch with some skin retouching and was very very pleased with the updates. its not pure magic yet, but its a damn good improvement.

the crop tool is like LRs now. i love it.

i noticed the default for image resizing is now bicubic automatic. its things like that that make CS6 superior. i keep finding little time saving things throughout the software.

Ya I agree that there is a speed upgrade. Content aware patch is not too bad too. I just don't think the upgrade will be worth the hundreds of dollars that it usually is.

it really depends on the person. if you dished $$$ out for CS5 not too long ago, then holding off on cs6 seems reasonable.
the new features really do help with workflow of large amounts of photos though. its a worthy new resource for professional imo.

GUI looks nice and some of the new features I guess. It won't really help me in my work but its nice.

I would of liked it if the code were rewritten somewhat so it can actually utilise more than 2 CPU cores.

I can only feel sorry for the morons who go out and buy $8,000 Mac Pros with dual quad/hex core CPUS when PS only uses 2 cores...

totally, a 4 core solution at least doesnt seem unreasonable for adobe. they could have left the 32bit version alone if they wanted to and changed the 64bit.
the only thing i would say is when using CS during workflow, i have, at the very least, lightroom open, and sometimes 1 or 2 other programs. my 3rd/4th core arent just chilling out.

( not to mention minecraft in the background ;) )

Well it has been my major criticism of Adobe products since I can remember :(

I usually have many things open at once too and I have 2 decent small workstations that handle everything. But it would just be nice if they actually wrote it with professionals in mind haha

i see your point, professional software should be written with professionals in mind. And after over 10 revisions, the subject of over 2 cores should have been addressed.

anyone find anything else they like about CS6?

It seems they have made it more user-friendly at the sub-professional level.

I might download it today and investigate what the fuss is about ha
