I'm going for the Canon EOS 1100d. Now I'm doubting between buying only the body (340), or buying a package with Kit lens ( EF 18-55 DC III vs 366, or EF 18-55 IS II vs 399)
Going to buy this additional lens vs 100 (Canon Lens EF 50mm 1.8 II)

My question is if I would ever use the kit lens when I buy that additional lens, or the kit lens basically crap?

Thanks in advance!

The kit lens is like your basic all round lens. Just something to put on till you get other lenses that do specific things. I learned on my kit lens it's not a bad thing to get !

you dont need IS on such a short focal length, but i dont know which of those kit lenses has better optics etc

The 18-55 IS is optically superior to the non-IS version. It's actually a decent lens, even though it's a kit lens it's sharp. Sharper than a 17-40L actually.
