Use manual setting and set your shutter time down low, high iso as well I believe

Give it more time to soak in the fire and will make it way more vibrant and lively

I thought you would use a fast shutter for fire so you wouldn't get the blur?

I remember I took a picture of fire in the summer time. It was outside. My brother poured some gasoline on it (to make it grow and be wild) and just as he did that I snapped a photo and it looked pretty cool! All I remember is that I had a fast shutter, and it was light outside. But I guess with it being dark you'd need a slower shutter speed.

Sounds like a challenge!!!
Can't wait to make a fire outside as well! (Snow and rain today so will postpone the project)
The fire being a good source of light, I don,t think you need a slow speed to make a nice photo, but if you want movement (like waterfall) and keep the wood with details, you could try slower speed...
I will do some test shots also when Mother Nature gives me permission :p

fire does not cause blur as light is recorded onto the sensor.

But fire moves. So it would be blurry if the shutter isn't fast enough. Depends what effect you are looking for. Do you want to freeze the fire on the spot, or do you want it to be all dreamy like a water fall.
