Went to my local camera shop today (wolf camera, owned by ritz) to test out/buy a ND filter. Preferably a 9-10 stop one to photograph long exposures of sunsets/waves. The sales guy who "helped" me said "oh people don't use those any more so we don't stock them. Photoshop can do what you're looking for. Most people just buy circular polarizer filters for that."

Sigh....

Do you guys suggest any large ND filters? I've been looking at Hoya, Lee, and B+W.

Silly people...

I would suggest getting a square filter system or the largest filter you can find and getting step down rings.

As far as a brand, I personally can't tell the difference between Tiffen, Lee, and Hoya filters. I've used a circular polarizer from all three and they seem the same. However, I can't say much about any others filters, including ND filters.

i prefer the lee 100x100 holder (as you can screw in a 105mm polariser if needed) with hitech 100x100 Nd's

Why would anyone download a filter? Unless it was legal, I would not.
