Recently found this photo on an old flash drive.. It's of my dad in Africa when he was a kid and was taken by my grandfather.

Thought it was pretty cool so I decided to share it here.

I'm also curious as to what kind of feedback I could get on this photo from experienced photographers. So lmk. Thx.

I see.... Well I just wanted to know people's opinions on the quality of the picture. Not necessarily how cool they think it is...

But thanks though.

I don't know why you would want comments on it from experienced photographers. Just cherish the.. I'd say memory, but you weren't there B) . Pretty cool though.

I'm not sure what that means...

For my own personal reasons that I'd rather not share...

So... What's good about it?.. What could be better? etc.. I was under the impression that experienced photographers could tell me things like that just by looking at a photo... Am I wrong?

You are not wrong, but perhaps just in the wrong forum. This sub forum used to be helpful, but recently it's been pretty spam. If you want real answers, I know some photography forums that would help you out if you are truly interested in opinions. I think the photo is really interesting because of who's in it, but I don't really see any creativity besides the way they are standing or how the picture quality is. I spose an old photo like that, though, it could be a lot worse. So I'd say it's not bad!

Not really an interesting composition, as it has no clear focal point, rule of thirds seems to have been ignored, few leading lines; which are contradicting eachother, bad use of depth.

Regarding tonal values, it seems to be overexposed and lacking in detail. If you wish to see how to successfully work with tonal values, look up work of Ansel Adams (B&W photography as well), who works with such.

The lighting seems to be too strong, as if the photo is taken in the midday light, making it seem flat and not contributing to shadow quality.

Typical family vacation photo. Besides the african tribemembers of course :D .
