If you have time check this out :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/qwnwy/sets/72157627678867459/This is a set of photos taken on october 2nd 2011. We gained access to the asylum and the results show an eerie building with lots of history. The vast Majority of the photos were to document the building and hold little photography merit.
Severalls Asylum was built in 1913. It closed in the late 1990s. In it’s heyday it housed 2000 patients; some of which were used in experimental medical tests/operations. These patients where there for various reasons and psychiatrists were free to experiment with new treatments on patients seemingly at will using practices now considered unsuitable such as electro-convulsive therapy and the use of frontal lobotomy.
Some people say the place is haunted and its defiantly got a grim atmosphere inside!
We drove up to colchester nice and early and spent a few hours inside. unfortunately we were unable to get up the water tower.
It's well worth a visit and worth a drive (it took us 1 & 1/2 hours from london)
All the photos are lower quality as i could not upload them all with my 300MB allowance
hope you enjoy the set
