So without wasting time:

I own the FujiFilm FinePixS700 camera and I love this camera. It was unused for a year or two and I finally have it again but now it reads "Card Error" every time I try and load it up.

I read online somewhere that a "Format" would fix the problem (erasing all data as well). And I am more then willing to do it but after selecting Format and confirming that I don't mind losing all data the screen goes blank but lit and nothing happens.

So basically my question is, How long can a format take? Hours? Days?

Will it fix my problem? Or do I really need to bring it into a store to fix it?

When I format my full 8gb card it can take twenty seconds easily.

When it isn't full around 3 seconds.
