Wow I am soooo happy!!! Needed to share this here with my friends on jsp

A few months ago, I had sent a message via FB to the chief editor of the Quebec Equestrian Federation, asking if one of her official phtographer couldn't cover a horse show, I would glady do it.
Not even a reply....
Oh well.
I keep doing stuff my way, with my web site and my hadful of friendly clients.
This past week-end was the Jeux du Québec in Bromont (the 1976 Olympic site ofr Equestrian.. so beautiful) and I went there with my kids, all day Saturday and Sunday, taking over 2500 pictures with the 70-200 2.8 I had rented (it is better than sex in general... few men can compare to it haha)..
I am spending lots of time editing my pictures and putting all the good ones on my web site and some on FB to get some publicity....
Well, the official photographer for this big event didn'T show up, so the equestrian federation has NO pictures for the media....
The chief editor just contacted me......

First thing she asks me is what are my conditions, and the federation has a low budget...
But still....
Celebrating this moment of happiness with a huge bowl of ice cream

As an experienced businessman, I suggest you DO NOT do the following:

settle for promises of future work/payment
hand out copyrights unless the amount to be paid is in the thousands
give pictures out for free, especially not 'proofs' or samples ( be very generous with your watermark size if you'll be showing pictures to them)
fall for 'rights' issues (it is a public event, so everything you've taken is 100% yours)

Omg in the thousands? I seriously don't think it is that much I could get here, since this is a non profit organisation... but for sure I won't give it for free... they are really in trouble for their photographer not showing up!!!
Also I just checked, and the picture they want, was from a run that took place in complete darkness, except for a few spot lights... I didn't expect those pictures to be needed, and I was freezing my hands off taking them, at high iso and as low a speed horses would allow me...
luckily I have 1 shot that is decent.... well, quite decent (I'm proud of it due to the conditions it was taken under). So I don't think many other people can provide them with a media quality image that they want..
I wouldn't sell them the picture without my name at the bottom for credits, I'll show her the picture and see what she has to offer....

Can you show us some of your pics you took?

I upload them on my web site which is Flash based so people cannot (easily) copy the pictures....
Unfortunately my web site contains all my informations: address and phone number..... which I don't think would be wise to share on jsp considering some non friendly people
I'll upload a few on Flickr and post them....

Here's one that I really like.... Had to be in the right spot at the right time to take this shot..
The horse you see in first plan threw off its rider at the top of the hill, then didn't want to get caught but couldn't find the way back to the stables...
This is during a cross-country race that is usually about 11 minutes long and is part of a 3-day event. You can see the horseless rider at the top of the hill walking down, and the next contestant jumping towards the loose horse...
