Well, today has probably been one of the saddest days in photography.

My battery died and I happened to have my extra at home.
I realized my camera is very dirty inside, can't see this being fixed anytime soon.
And I am frustrated with the iso performance with my camera, let alone the noise I get with every photo.

Nonetheless, I had a great opportunity to get a sublime photo, and it was all ruined :(

What is the best tool in photoshop to remove noise/dust parts on photographs?

I installed the noise ninja plug in, but I am lost and confused on how it works. I don't even know where to begin with the settings. I also see that there's an option in lightroom as well, but don't know where to begin there either. I keep sliding the sliders back and forth and don't know what looks good/bad ...

Was this taken as Raw?

Cloning / healing can help with dust particles. I use LR for all noise reduction.

Show me the photo. I'll help you out. msn.

No, it was not taken as raw unfortunately.

I don't want you to edit the photo for me, I would like to know how. I will try the clone tool with the dust removal.

Remove noise by shooting at a lower ISO (tripod) or get faster lenses or a camera that shoots high ISO better lol

Noise ninja and lightroom is okay but when things are horribly noisy ie. pushing under exposed images you are pretty much fucked.

Dust spot removal is just spot healing and clone healing, nothing hard about it.

The best way to do this is.... *drum roll*

Open your image in photoshop.

Create a new levels adjustment layer (found in the layers palette) and drop the mid tones slider down 20-30 points.

Go back to your background layer and start healing and cloning. The purpose of the levels is that it will make the spots far more obvious.

When you are finished cloning and healing, delete the levels adjustment layer.

By far the easiest way to see and remove dust spots (other than getting your camera cleaned and being careful when you change lenses :P )

Oh.. and I can't stress enough how bloody important it is to shoot raw. JPEG should never be an option. It shouldn't even be in Digital SLR cameras anymore.
