So far most people said I should go for the 24mm 2.8 that is currently priced at $250 free shipping, while my brother says to just go for the 50mm 1.8 which is currently priced at $120 free shipping.
Besides these 2 choices is there any other great prime lens out there that I could get? Also is a battery grip worth the $130?

Lmk sorry for double post just need some other choices maybe.

You don't need the grip. Just switch batteries :\
The only real need for a grip is for lots of vertical shooting (to protect your wrist) or to have a more 'pro' looking camera (good with clients).

That's because your arms/wrist are weak. Working out will help you more than a $130 grip.

personally i dont like the feel of a grip on my camera
tho on others it does feel better
totally personal choice i guess

the 24mm and the 50mm are obviously very different lenses
what body you using and what do you mainly want to shoot?
24mm on cropped body = decent walk about lens
24mm on ff body = nice landscape lens
50mm on cropped body = cheap portrait lens (yeah yeah its not the ideal focal length but still decent for non close ups)
50mm on ff body = walk about lens

my opinions obv

Just to clarify, make sure it's something YOU want, and not something people tell you that you should get.
