So this year, my brother bought a BRAND NEW boat. EXCITEMENT IS TO COME! Actually, it's already here...

I have MANY opportunities to take some photos, I want to get some good ones!

I have a few questions though...

1. When taking action shots - is it prone to get a few blurry/not so sharp photos because of all the fast moving stuff going on?

2. Which mode is the best? In these shots I used Tv mode.

3. Anything I should know with action with my 70-200mm that I'm not taking advantage of?

4. How about other settings like One Shot focus/AI Focus/ AI Servo ?

5. Any other advice you can give!

6. Action takes a lot of pictures to get it right!

7. Btw, I really love this lens for the action!

Things I learned:

I had to crop most of the photos as the horizon was OFF
Hard to take pictures when the boat goes over waves.
That a 70-200mm lens is awesome

As for the pics:

Yes but it depends on your shutter speed

2. Which mode is the best? In these shots I used Tv mode.

I'm always on manual but I guess shutter priority would be your best bet.

3. Anything I should know with action with my 70-200mm that I'm not taking advantage of?

Use option 2 with the image stabilisation as that is for panning

4. How about other settings like One Shot focus/AI Focus/ AI Servo ?

AI Servo should probably always be on as it will track what ever you are focused on so long as you are half depressing the shutter for focus

5. Any other advice you can give!

Don't be afraid to bump up your ISO to get a fast shutter!

6. Action takes a lot of pictures to get it right!

But once you get it right the chances of making mistakes the next time will drop drastically

7. Btw, I really love this lens for the action!

It's not a bad little lens!

Haha ^_^ Thanks!

You use manual with action shots? Or? I find it really annoying to switch settings all the time... sometimes the clouds go over the sun, etc. I've just had bad luck with action & manual. I might give it another try when the light isn't always changing on me.

Because eventually you can change settings too fast for your camera's own good.

So the only reason is for my own good? I normally use manual all the time other than action...

Auto mode is more prone to error than you are. It may fuck up on the exposure on a would-be vital shot. You shouldn't really have to change settings much anyway, even in 'action shots.' This is not a wedding we're talking about :D
