1)Alexanderplatz Tower

The square was known to be one of the least attractive from an architectural point of view, so the city of Berlin commissioned an architectural competition which was won by Hans Kohlhoff (also one of the architects of the modern Potsdamer Platz). The plan resulted in a complete redevelopment of the square, as well as the renovation and reconstruction of surrounding buildings.

2) Berlin Museum Island

The five museums that comprise Berlin's famous Museum Island are located between the Spree River and the Kupfergraben. The ornate and enticing group of museums started with King Friedrich Wilhelm III who commissioned the construction of the Royal Museum - now the Altes Museum - in 1830. The museum was built to allow the general public to view the royal art treasures of Germany.

3)Jüdisches Museum Berlin

In his research for the project, Libeskind read the Gedenkbuch, or Memorial Book, which lists all the Jews murdered in the Holocaust. The report which he filed in the original design competition borrowed the form of the Gedenkbuch.

4) Jüdisches Museum Berlin

5) Jüdisches Museum Berlin

The structure of the building is two lines with different angles that together make voids and meeting-points, and continuous movements beyond the very building.

6)The winged Giant Alkyoneus with Athena against him

The ground was perforated at only one place: here, the demoness of the earth rose up, her face hacked away under her eye sockets

7) Checkpoint Charlie

Checkpoint Charlie was the name given by the Western Allies to the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War.

8)Tiergarten

Großer Tiergarten was originally a hunting reserve of the Prince-electors, then transformed, from 1830 by Peter Joseph Lenné, into a modern urban park. During the period 1961–1989 its eastern borders were crossed by the Berlin Wall.

9) Frank O. Gehry DZ Bank

The building's primary conference hall is located within a highly sculptural shell that rests on the glass floor in the center of the atrium making it appear to float in the space. The four-story high structure, its curvy form resembling an enormous prehistoric horseâs head, is clad in stainless steel on the exterior and wood on the interior.

10) Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

The monument has been criticised for only commemorating the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. A monument to the persons persecuted for their sexual orientation is located across the street in the Tiergarten park.

11) Sony Center

This new Sony Center, designed by Helmut Jahn, is an eye-catching monolith of glass and steel featuring an enormous tent-like conical roof, its shape reportedly inspired by Mount Fuji in Japan, covering an elliptical central public space up to 102 metres across, and thus differing substantially from Hilmer & Sattler's original plan for the site.

12) Deutsche Bahn Headquarters

Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) headquarters. Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, Germany

13) Reichstag Dome

Foster's dome is a gleaming metal and glass structure with a ramp that spirals up a to a roof terrace with 360-degree views of central Berlin. The dome overlooks the debating chamber for the Bundestag and a central mirrored cone draws light into the plenary chamber. The design also preserves remnants of the building's colorful past, including graffiti left by the Red Army in 1945.

14)Kunsthaus Tacheles

The Kunsthaus Tacheles, is an art center in Berlin, a large building on Oranienburger Straße in the district known as Mitte. Huge, colorful graffiti-style murals are painted on the exterior walls, and modern art sculptures are featured inside. The building houses an artists collective which is threatened with eviction.

Very different stuff there. In #5 - what's on the bottom? Looks like those tabs that you can break off on cans of coke or something. It was nice that you explained each photo - helps us have an understanding of what's going on! :)

Is an installation that is inside the Jewish Museum. Human faces in steel that move when walked on. The sound is terrific and the excitement you feel is very strong.
