I dont really find a difference in having vr on or not. Maybes thats just me, i also havent really done a direct comparison.
i got the kit 18-55mm VR lense with the camera.

Was looking at the 55-200mm f/ 4.5-6 Nikkor and debating whether i want to pay the extra little bit for the Virbration reduction

i would suggest getting a lens with vr,

however i would not suggest that lens. you will get a better result with a mid tele prime for the same money.
