Hey guys, (and gals), I really want to get into photography, but I must say I'm pretty terrible. I got a gift from a friend recently (Nikon D3000). I read the User's Manual and everything, but everything seems to me as a foreign language :P. If anyone knows how to work this specific camera can you please help me out? Maybe some tips and tricks?

There's a little green square. Put your dial there. Then press the button on the upper right side of the camera. You take a photo like that.

I can't figure out if you're trying to mock me or really help me out. Either way thanks for the advice, but I already knew the obvious.

Is your camera really in a different language and you cant read it? Or you just dont know how to work the damn thing.
Just keep it on auto for know learn how to take pictures then work your way up to manual and shizznitz

I get that, ok here is one legit question, how do I get the screen to show what I'm taking a picture of.

That's called 'live mode'. I'm not sure the D3000 can do that, but search for it within your manual. Otherwise, your only option is to take a photo before anything.

So thanks for giving me the name of it, I searched it within my manual, turns out it doesn't have Live View. I don't get this camera, one second ( on AUTO) it shoots an HD amazing looking photo, the next picture I take the quality is garbage. >.<
