I currently have a Canon Rebel EOS. Looking to get a lens for taking pictures of cars (Mainly what I take pictures of).

Someone told me to get a Sigma 10-20(?).

Any other options? Not looking to spend thousands.

Prime?
I'd go for the samyang fisheye 3.5.
Absolutely a steal for that price.

That's not such a great lens for cars. I mean, it can be used, it certainly has it's uses.

But for a first lens I would definitely say to go for a non-distorting lens.

The Sigma 10-20 3.5 or 4.5-5.6 is a great choice from what I've heard.

However, take a look at the Tokina 11-16 too, I've heard good about both. Assuming you don't have the cash for the Canon counterpart.

Canon 10-22 3.5-4.5 VS Sigma 10-20 3.5

Tokina 11-16 2.8 VS Sigma 10-20 3.5

I'm looking to get either the Tokina or Sigma when I get the cash for a new lens. I love the idea of the 2.8 on the Tokina so I may go for it.

I'm guessing you're wanting to take pics of stationary cars with a wide angle?

I think in terms of automotive photography, good composition and lighting out-weights "fitting-it-all-in" type deal. Shooting wide and close will distort the car on the image.

Before you go out and get a UWA lens, try finding a location with enough working distance and spend the money on a good quality CPL filter to take out the reflections. Go to a craft store and get a few white and black foam boards to block lights and add reflections.

sigma 10-20 is great lens, but it has pretty nasty distortions at wide end, but all of those cheap wide angle lenses do..

Its kinda both. I mainly shoot stationary. But sometimes when I'm at the track I'll shoot a couple of my buddy's racing.

Also, I want something that I can get a little more "zoom" with for those hard to get long shots @ the track.

Yea. A lot of people around here do it. I dont like it though.

I think I might just go with the Sigma 10-20.

Any info regarding wide angle lens's?
