Nice work mate.

Just a question though.. who does your retouching? Outsourced or do you do it yourself?

You are an artist that is for sure. My questions would be: How do you handle the models so that they feel comfortable? How do you tell them how to stand and stuff? Are you polite with them, or do you give very strong orders and you do not care if they like you or not?

i almost always do my own retouching. this has become such a significant part of image production that i'm leery to leave it up to others. if i am swamped with work, i will outsource the grunt work (skin/hair/clothes) but i always like to be the one to handle the adjustments that really impact the image (colour/contrast/tone/d&b/etc.).

i almost always work with professional models so comfort is rarely an issue. only occasionally with a really new model will i have to address this. when that happens, i take 2 or 3 minutes to talk to them, just shooting the shit, and i always make sure to put on music they like.

as for posing, i will communicate the mood of the shot to the model which usually gets them in the correct vein of poses. this is where something delicate happens. a model will start moving pretty fluidly and get "into it" and you have to keep her moving that way while perfecting her movements (through suggestions) into your vision. i'm not that polite, and i'm not trying to make friends with the models - i want the shot. if a model isn't bringing it because she was out partying or something, i will definitely call her on it. that said, i'm generally easy-going and likeable, so i do end up making a lot of friends. ;)
