for a certain local freelance photographer like myself to seriously IRK THE HELL OUT OF ME.?!?!?

Story:

I usually have a lot of respect for all photographers, from beginners to pros. And I don't want to come of like a "hater." And hell, maybe I'm jealous of the amount of clients she gets, but I really want to know what her secret is...I know it's something with her advertising. Now, since I have only been into freelancing for a year and a half or so I don't charge too much money. I started out using way too many filters and being a little too cocky. I have grown up and matured and my photography has followed. I hate hate hate to say this, but I think my photos are better than hers? :/ Along with a lot of other local photographers here. I've been watching her work for almost a year now. It's crazy how people pay MORE money for LOWER quality photographs. I just don't get it -______-

I mean, you can tell she has some potential for sure. Along with a nice camera. But a nice camera + super soft edges + selective coloring does not equal photographer to me.

I don't know.
I just needed to share my annoyance with SOMEONE, besides my husband.

Everyone who gives her reviews LOVES LOVES LOVES her work. I would be so disappointed to pay this woman over $50 and receive these results.

I am not like this with any other photographers. Not even ones that are worse, lol. Something about her just irks me though. Especially her photos.

Am I crazy?

I don't think it's wrong. But if you really feel you are better than her, then I would have nothing to worry about! Do your thing, let her do do hers. Perhaps she has a better reputation and has been around longer as to why people choose her? Or maybe they don't have a way of knowing that you are around? I think the part that irks you is the part where she has more clients than you do & the fact you know you have better skills :), but don't let that bother you! Did you start out before or after her? Sometimes all it takes is some time to build up clients. Only speaking from a person on the outside looking in. I don't have any experience with doing things like this, but it comes in daily life with anything else... the new guy always gets the crappier end of the stick - until the reputation is built up.

I'll teach you how to run a profitable photo business with $0 in advertising. My photography isn't near the best in my city, but I'm making more than most (if not all).
I promise you, I don't offer something like this to everyone unless I feel like they can do it. I don't like to waste time. Bring your hubby along.

I have to say that now I feel a little better about my bad photos...

Yeah I think that is the part that irks me...that and those photos..haha. I did start a little after her, I guess. Oh well, it will all pay off some day
