Hi all

anyone got some experience using stock image sites for selling their photos?

i've noticed a lot of places have minimum earning before payments are released... is someone only taking one or two quality photos a week going to be able to reach these minimums? is it worth the effort?

To be honest i'm not too fussed on making money. Having a site accept the photos will almost be enough for me, i'm just looking for some different experiences with this sorta thing

thanks

on the website stockexchange or whatever you can create an account and sell your photos for like 1 dollar each or something like that.
thats all i have ever heard of really. idk if some sell for more than others but i know thats a place you can sell your photos, and you have copyright on them and shit, so like if people use them for advertisement or on a product they have to notify you and ask you for permission and shit.

There are two types of stock photography websites. there's micro stock were you are selling your images to multiple people for small amounts of money, so you might be selling your image for 1$ but your hoping for 100 people to buy it. Then there are macro stock site (which I dont even know if they exist anymore out side of agencies) these sites are usually run more professionally and when a image is purchased the buyer basically then controls the copyright and you are no longer legally the owner of the image but the image is bought at a much higher price. Its been awhile sense I have looked into stock photography so my knowledge is a little dated but I'm sure not much has changed.

Stock photography = not profitable. The market is wayyy too saturated.

I can see that i'm not going to make much money out of it but still a little pocket money to go towards whatever is nothing to sneeze at.

Obviously it's not going to be a career but hey.. would be interesting to see if anyone bought the images
