So yesterday I had the first shooting with Clara, a young innocent newbie. It was her first time. I´ve known her for a while and always thought she´d make a great beauty model. So I invited her to shoot with me for a day and see what we can come up with. I´m really satisfied about the outcome of the day, seeing as it was her first time actually modeling, and for me it was the first time seriously using my new studio. We had a great day with alot of fun, and are propably going to do this again.

I processed them all in high resolution so I can print some of em. resized for jsp.

I´d suggest you guys to view them on flickr, as the quality is much better in my opinion:

10/10 because Clara has a sexy upper chest area. I LOVE the skin tones on #3 and 4. You should be striving for those tones in the rest of your images. I dislike the cold/green tones of the other photos.

What lenses were you using? What retouching techniques were you employing?

6 is your best effort here, nice light :)

No detail in 8 ;/ Try a reflector, you only need a stop or so in that shadow area

2.. chin slightly higher and pointed more to her left, gives her face and jaw some structure and dynamic.. be careful when shooting up (you know, looking up someones nose) remove anything that is up there (should be black only haha)

1. See two

But I think 4 had great potential.

- Chin up slightly more
- Hair half covering eyes don't work for me, she has beautiful eyes, show it!
- If you are going to include a hand, make sure it's not half cut off, maybe straighten it up more, make it look feminine/sexy (not raunchy)

Ps. She looks like Michael Cera in shot 5 :O (bricks were shat)

Wow these are super pros!!!
I really love them all, the sharpness on the eyes and the clarity of them is awesome!
6 won't open for me and 7 is the only one I don,t like the lighting of it.
All others are 10/10s!!!
2-3-4 being my favorite!

Cool dude

What modifiers are you using? If you want to shoot close up "beauty" try using a beauty dish with a grid inside it and a sock over it if the subject has good/average skin. If your subject has great skin, don't use a sock.

Also, put a reflector under her to put a little light under her chin.

I actually did that with one set up. Uhhmmm atm I only got 2 softboxes ( 60x60cm ). I already announced that my next purchase is going to be a beauty dish.
