I'm photographing my first male model this weekend. He's around 20 years old, I barely know him, and I'm ridiculously nervous! Any tips for photographs or ideas? I'm usually pretty good with people I know, but am learning not to freeze up with strangers.

Get to know them a bit, ask em lots of questions see what they like and are into hobbies and stuff. I really don't have a say as I've never photograph'd models before - but I imagine they're generally not shy if they are modelling - so I'd ask them questions as if I'm getting to know a person when I'm out for coffee :). Post them pics up after!

Ooh! That's a good idea. I guess I'd just make a lot of conversation about their life and interests. I'm also trying to think of ways to make them laugh or something like that! Hm! I'll definitely post the photos :)

I admittedly mainly photograph women, but I have photographed some men as well. I wrote a little piece about working with models and it is based on my experiences as a photographer and also my second hand (or vicarious) knowledge on hearing stories. if the guy you are photographing is new to modeling, then you will both just have to figure things out. I recommend having some magazines available to look at. If he is experienced he will likely know a set of basic poses and/or have some ideas. You can check out the blog piece if you feel so inclined.

I've photographed a few girls in their teens, but never much of anything else. But, that article was extremely, extremely helpful! A lot of good little pointers that one could easily forget without prompt. He is a new model and I am new to model photography so it will be interesting! Thank you. (:

Yeah, I'll talk to my mushaaaa.
Instead of family photos, because father and I hate photos, it might just be her and my brother, or just my brother. :D

I'm open to nearly everything, so that would be fine by me! (: I'm not used to posed photos, you probably saw my Vancouver stuff which was all spontaneous, so it would be good practice.
