I don't know if this fits here, but for a portfolio, photographer's website... which would you say is best? I'm hanging out on Tumblr but am contemplating the big switch to Wordpress.

Tumblr is more of a social network than a blog. If you do go with WordPress, make sure it's the self hosted route, and not a free one.

It's also worth looking at professional designs if you're not comfortable with learning to theme a site yourself.
