Most people I know around here usually put away the cameras during the winter, since our winter scene is pretty gloomy and depressing, how about you guys? I've seen some great shots so far of the winter, but it just seems like you can't get that around here.

Yeah, this is about the same for me the past two winters. I honestly have not taken a single good snow photo or anything in the winter season for that matter.

Everything I've been shooting has been either indoor sports or studio portraits.

It is the opposite for me, I can't remember another winter when I have taken so many outdoors shots!
But I have to admit the optimal photo conditions are very seldom... :(

I don't normally go outdoors in the winter here.... just don't like being cold. I'd rather sweat till I'm soaked. So yes, I pretty much put away my camera in the winter.

I don't hate the winter, I just hate having to go outside in the cold.. It's so miserable, especially the past few days. We had about a foot of snow and 0 degrees, then we had 60 degrees the next day and all the snow melted. A day later 0 degrees again and 40 MPH winds, the day after that another 6 inches of snow fell.. Today it pretty much all melted again.. It all makes for very unphotogenic conditions.

here we hibernate in summer, it gets way to hot (50degC / 120F) and humid (100%)
the humidity gives the sky an ugly haze
when you take your camera from air-conditioned indoors to outdoors it mists up and takes ages to dissipate

Hey! It sounds like you live in saskatchewan.... where it's melting one day, and then the next you have to plug your vehicle's in so they'll start.
