I know that the winner of the contest chooses the theme for the next one. I also noticed that there was a decline of interest, personally I have not been to investigate the reasons and I do not care. I hope the contest No. 6 has many interests.

I personally have a preference for Architecture, but I also tried to make me come some other idea.
Here is a list of themes that could be assessed and rated, of course, you can suggest something else.

And now we see the proposals:

Architecture
My concept of architecture encompasses the entire environment of human life, we can not escape to architecture, as long as we are part of civilization, because it represents all the changes and alterations made on the surface, with a view of human life, except the pure desert (W.Morris)

Landscape
A perception that combines natural forms, which are the areas of human life, with all the elements or signs that over time, according to the different purposes that the man posted in the natural order.
The landscape has now assumed a central cultural role in front of the spread of human interventions related to industrialization and economic liberalism that has given value to the ground, there is the risk that the landscape is robbed of its natural connotation, which miss the memory, which is essentially composed of its identity. At the same time the landscape has become a concern of planners, administrators and those who preside over the government of the territories.

Portrait
The portrait is a representation of a person under his real features.
In reality the picture is never a mere mechanical reproduction of the features (like a wax mask modeled on a face or any photographic impression), but there comes into play, however, to define this, the artist's sensibility, which interprets the features according to your taste and depending on the characteristics of the art of time in which it operates.

Flowers
don't think we need explaination of this :D

Seasons
same here...

Culture
An anthropological conception presents culture as the varied set of costume(I hope it is translated correctly), beliefs, attitudes, values, ideals and habits of different populations or societies in the world. Regards both the individual and the community to which he belongs. In this sense, the concept is in the plural, assuming the existence of different cultures, and is typically assumed the existence of a culture of each ethnic group or social grouping, and membership of such groups is closely related to the sharing of cultural identity.

Citylife (not the pc game)
A typical day in the city, anything that is inherent in the small town where you live or the great metropolis: the colors of a market, the queue at the post office, subway, night clubs, relaxing cottage ... everything related to living in cities.

My vote go for Architecture.

p.s. Forgive me any errors, surely there are.

My choice is culture or portraits (or both - a portrait that reflects culture, for example). People are everywhere, and culture is an incredible subject

I decline other subjects because of the following:

Architerture will likely be won by the Italians, since the contest will turn into 'pretty photo' decision instead of a superior image aesthetically, compositionally, or creatively. No building in the U.S. can compete effectively with Italian architecture :D

I live in the middle of a desert and the only interesting 'landscape' is cityscape instead. The internet is flooded with 'beautiful' photos of sunsets / sunrises. We have a mountain, but it's got no interesting figure.

Flowers: it's winter here :D

Seasons: Snore. Photos of snow / trees / clothes / seasonal products / seasonal necessities. I'd wait for spring on this one.

Citylife: good option - I have nothing against it. But I prefer the mentioned two.

You did an incredible job making this post and adding those descriptions. You'll make the transition into the new contest a good one, and hopefully there will be less bitching.

I vote for culture!

I love that idea but i'm not sure how well that would work out tho. Lots of different interpretations. Lots of things could be considered cultural. Flags or other types of symbolism, appeal, art etc etc.

If one doesn't understand that particular culture.. it could be seen as just another random shot.

Maybe add an explanation, coupled with the image? That way the "ZOMG IT DOESNT FIT TO THE THEME" complaining can end.
Both would be posted, ofc. Or maybe just a quote.

I laughed heartily at your decision to cut the flowers. Actually I did not think that there are many many places where it is still very very cold. In Italy, I live near Rome, there are already 20 degrees ... it's almost spring. Sorry, is my fault :D
While the architecture do not know, there are many talented architects (in every country) and many opportunities to play with the surfaces of modern buildings. We Italians are not too ahead (although some italian buildings are superb).

SOMEONE WILL SHOOT A CAT or another animal, claiming it's a portrait of them in a pathetic attempt to personify and humanize this inferior creature!!! 99% chance. They'll even add "This is Bob, my fat, Garfield-look-a-like, cute-for-two-minutes-then-horribly-monotonous friend"

Either that, or a Jesus-look-a-like tortilla chip or cracker.

But you have classical buildings that cannot be compared in prettyness and exotic-ness to what's available elsewhere. It would turn into a 'zomg what a pretty photo of X famous building!' type of contest, even if the photo is crooked, has horrible exposure (with a white sky), and has uninteresting composition.
