I asked this question as I am thinking of making one myself. I think it will be a blog-like website about my (not so many) travels and some stories behind the photos.

What I am afraid of that my photos are not interesting enough for an own website.

The only place my better photos can be seen at the moment is my devart gallery here:

If you say that these photos are not worth an own site as they are not surprising or captivating enough i can live with it . So just want to hear some opinions.

You can get your own site (ie one where you own the domain name and hosted on your domain, not someone elses) for something like £80 a year (or quite a bit cheaper, but you get what you pay for).

That's pretty much dirt cheap, so do it.

If youre really into dA you can get a premium membership, which gives you access to a portfolio with a domain name of your choosing (but obviously with dA's stuff behind it also). Its only $30 a year, but I like everything that comes with the membership, not just the portfolio. You can edit it a little also, but not as much as if you had your own domain ofc.

As far as the photos themselves, Im just wondering who your target is as far as clients. Most of the photos seem to be nature related, so are you just trying to get your work out there, or are you looking to get jobs or..?

Lol, its just like any other site that hosts portfolios o_o

Its not a big deal if youre only looking to do local stuff imo.

Best would be simply to sell them to any travel related magazines or websites, but at the moment I am not planning it as my photos would not be good enough for them I think. I do not shoot for specific client needs just for fun. With an own site I meant an own domain of course.

I made one quickly today since we were talking about it :D

currently waiting for the domain. It´ll be temporary until I can make a better one.
