i would take the 135mm, but thats a personal choice. both lenses are for bit different usage, so its bit hard to say what others should choose

Tough...A lot of people replace their 135s with the 70-200 f/2.8 mk II. The f/4 can't quite replace it, but it still would make a good substitute at that FL. Basically it will come down to how much you want to shoot at around 135. The 135 f/2 will be superior at that fl obviously, but the versatility of the f/4 could win out.

If you don't have many lenses I would go with the 70-200.

Both are good. I prefer 135mm for IQ. I personally prefer macro lenses coz you can focus closer and they are very sharp.
A friend of mine is a professional and his portraits in studio are taken with an old 5D and the non IS 100 macro.

I owned 70-200mm f4 IS, great lens, but I had more fun with other lenses. F4 is not fast enough to get extreme backgrounds.

Consider also 100mm f2, almost L quality, much cheaper, and you save money for a 50mm f1.4, a flash or something else you may need.

I can show many examples if need.

Consider also that:

- The zoom is weather sealed, if you intend to use it much outside it could be an added value.

- IS for landscapes is much better than fast apertures.

Re-sell value + IQ make the 135mmL 2.0 >

What do you intend to use this lens for? If for making money off portraits, I'd go with the 100mm L IS Macro.
