I only have a kit lens for my sony A300, and I was looking to get something better.

For $90... holy crap. Is this just a horrible model or something?

Yeah, basically what he said. Also, the autofocus on those is usually quite terrible. You will be assured to get many out of focus shots and other issues.

Okay, thanks! Just the input I was looking for :)

I think I'll just buy the 50mm f/1.4 prime. I hear it's pretty good for the price ^_^

Uhh, go with the Sigma 50 if you're buying a 1.4 version.

How come? I was thinking along the lines of the minolta, is the sigma version better?

Whoops, my bad. I was thinking you had a Canon. The Canon 1.4 is a little worse in terms of IQ than the Sigma. I have no idea about Minolta and Sony lenses.
