So I am using a Canon 50D with a Sigma 17-70 at the moment. I need a flash for some indoor shooting. I do not want to buy the 580 EX II at the moment. WHat other flash would you suggest to buy? It should be cheaper of course thank the 580...

thinking of 430 at the moment. DO you think I should buy that one?

The 430 ex II is not a bad flash unit. Not as powerful as the 580 but can still be used manually, which should take care of all your wireless and light needs.

thank you, I think I will stay with the 430, I can get it for around $170 used, so ich much cheaper than the 580

/e any suggestions for non Canon brands? (they must be compatible with canon ofc)

I do not know. Try look at guidenumber vs 430 II.

If you're going to use your flashes for fun stuff, then buy off brand. For professional, I'd suggest you buy actual canon flashes. We don't want any sudden bugs :)
