70-200 VRII or 24-70 and a 50mm prime. (75mm effective range)

Instead of worrying about new glass you should worry about lighting. 2.8 isn't fast enough unless the ceremony is outside. Consider a 24-70 and a flash unit. The only place you really need 200mm is the ceremony but since its family I'm sure you.can pull off with just 70mm. My ideal would be 35mm and 135mm

i have flash units already
2more primes would be great, but for other uses they are limited, at least a decent zoom has so many options etc

Are you buying new lenses? Why not save shit loads of money, and rent lenses... You can rent a 135 prime, a 24-70 2.8, and a 70-200 2.8... Then if you decide you do in fact want one of those lenses, buy it after.

Online.

And like I said, you would still be able to buy the new glass. You'd have the best you could get for the wedding. Then after you'd be able to make an informed decision on what glass you would like to purchase.

have used both the 24-70 and 70-200, love them both and will get both eventually
is the 135 not too much on a cropped body?

edit
it aint easy to get a rental lense from the net to dubai
dont think it will be viable but will certainly look at it, they are getting married back in South Africa so i will see what i could rent from there as well
thanks
