Hi, my name is Danny. I have been using a canon rebel xti for a little over a year now. I don't know very much about photography, but i have always enjoyed it and I really would like to learn more.

I haven't shot anything recently, but these are a few of my favorite shots.

Of the hundreds and hundreds of photos I have on my computer, there are really only maybe 5-6 I really like. I will post the other 2-3 after flood control lets up.

Some of these were shot with the stock lens that came on the camera, others were shot with a canon zoom lens 55-250mm. I don't know 100% for sure which are which.

Tell me what you think. If they suck, tell me they suck.

Image 1- Good natural lighting, okay composition (head & shoulder shot). Subject isn't really flattering though, and the background bokeh is very very distracting.

Image 2- Rules of third! But if you're centering, at least make sure the light bulb is straight ;) Also your white balance seems a little too warm even for tungsten lighting.

Image 3- Nice concept and good use of depth. Guy at the end table and the sofa is distracting. Also the table isn't perfectly lined up (Or maybe i'm just anal about stuff like that)

Image 4- Good to see that you're shooting from a more interesting angle instead of shooting down at cars like most people would. I would turn the wheel away from the camera to have to rim perpendicular to the lens and wash the car.

Image 5- Not really interesting shot, try shooting from a slightly different angle instead of shooting down on it. But it does make me hungry :s

Image 6- Odd looking colors, white balance is off? Decent composition.

And welcome to the photography forum!

Thanks for the feedback. like I said before, I really dont know much about photography. I told my parents I wanted a camera for christmas, and thats what they got me. i find myself way too often saying "I should take a picture of that" whatever the outcome may be is what it is.

If you know of a good place for me to read up on technique and things of the sort, that would be great. I think i know the camera well enough, however I know nothing about ISO, aperture, fstop (i think thats what its called)

I really need to learn about these different setting on the main dial: P/Tv/Av/M/A-DEP. I can change the ISO on any of those settings and on any of those setting I can use a secondary vertical dial, but I don't know what it's changing.

on the top left corner of the LCD number range from 30" to 1/4000 with many variants in between. I have no idea what that stuff means/does. Also top center of the LCD there is a number ranging from F5.6 to F36, I also don't know what these mean/do.

thanks. when i shoot cars I like to think out side of the box and not create a "same pic different car" type of situation.

Hey welcome to the photography forum!

You can post up to ten pictures per post in this forum :)

Hope you enjoy your time here, I am sure many are more than willing to help you out to improve your photography. I like to just sit back and watch and read their criticism, I don't have much to offer. With practice, of course, you will become better.

Thanks. It's kinda of a bad time for me because I don't currently have a valid drivers license so it's harder for me to get out and shoot like I should.

Shoot shoot shoot and then shoot some more. Eventually I will start producing much more attractive photography.
