I started looking at some abstract photography and got interested, so while I was taking normal pictures of Christmas lights, I tried some abstract.
I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to abstract photography.
Any tips/pointers?
Wasn't too sure what to crop out, and what to leave in, either.

Hmmmm! I see you tried to do a bokeh thing here. I love doing this. It's very fun.

I would try using settings such as:

Your lowest Aperture/F stop (like F1.8 for example)
Play around with shutter speeds & iso. Not sure what kind of camera you have, though.

This photo here, I used:

1/60 Shutter speed
F1.8
ISO 800

I have a 450d.
I used f5.6, 15 second shutter speed, and iso 100.
I like yours though, what is it, lights?

Yep, I used the lights from a Christmas tree!

Do you have a lens that can do a low F number? That part makes the biggest difference, too. Sometimes you also have to get closer to the subject. You can kind of almost see the bokeh in your viewfinder.

All I have is a 18-55mm kit lens, getting the 50mm prime for Christmas.
Yeah I was across the street, shoulda got closer.
I'll try it tomorrow and post the results.
