Hey all,

still doubting between D700 and Canon 5DII.

A way to decide could be the fact that with my budget I will go for a 2 lens set.

A fixed 24 or 35 added to a short tele / portrait landscape lens like a 60 macro, 85 or 100 macro or not.

For Nikon the lenses would be:

24 2.8 D / 60 af-s mikro / 85 1.8 D (hope names are fine as I do not know well nikon names)

For Canon:

24 2.8 or 35 2 and 100 macro IS L or 100 f2.

Any direct experience with Nikon lenses or with Canon wide ones?

I owned both 100 Canon so I know them very well.

I've got an old AIs nikon 24mm F2.8 lens, which is pretty bombproof and very sharp.

I'd not bother with the 60mm macro lens,it's a bit too short to be of real use as a macro lens, for a bit cheaper, you can pick up a 50mm F1.4 af-s instead.

60 mikro seems to have an outstanding performance, I do not need a macro lens for serious Macro photo, but I enjoy sometimes to can focus closed, that is why I prefer to lose 1 stop but to reach 1:1.

Although I don't own one, Canon wide lenses aren't as bad as everyone makes them seem.

Get the 14-24 for the Nikon instead! That lens is the best wide angle zoom out. Canon users get adapters just for that lens.

They may not be bad, but Nikon's still are better. Its like Canon's super telephotos being better than Nikons. Nikons really aren't bad, just not as great as Canon's/

Do you even use UWAs in your line of work? Seems that you'd use the 24-70 most right?

I don't see a use for a UWA lens vs another body, for example. NN 50 people wedding party photo.
