I dunno.. But to me it seems like Tamron is making a pretty damn nice 70-200 2.8..

And for ~$800..

Old lens vs new lens. Unfair comparison. It's like comparing the 7d to the D7000.

Can't beat Nikon's 80-200 2.8 the only one that can compare is the Canon L imo...

one guy made a topic on other forum that his tamron 70-200 didnt work on his 7d. after having the lens 4 months on maintenance service, they announced that the lens isnt compatible with his camera and that its not compatible with any canon camera newer than 500d. it seemed like it was news for those guys also because it took so long them to figure it out. it might work on some cameras tho, but its officially not compatible with new canons according to tamron, even tho that isnt mentioned anywhere. problem was with autofocus

just a little warning if you are going to get it

Same with the new Sigma 70-200/2.8

I would just save for a 70-200/2.8 mark II or a 70-200 f/4L IS

But then you can also look for the magic drain pipe.

Heard the 70-200 F4 L IS is the world's sharpest zoom lens :D
Also heard that even the MK II 2.8 =/= F4 L IS

It's comparable.. the 2.8II and 4L IS are pretty much equal in terms of sharpness. Both have 4 stop IS etc.

Based on my experiments, the MK II is > F4.

WAHHHH!!!

This sucks, It's going to take me forever to get the 2k for the 2.8 IS from Canon...

Can anything for Canon compete with the 2.8 IS?

F4 L competes with it in sharpness. You sacrifice only 1 stop.
