As winter draws near (at least in Europe) I thought that I need some kind of reading material for the evenings. As I am getting more and more into photography I thought that it would be a good idea to read some books from thebig old pro photographers. At the moment I got two books:

Bryan Peterson - Understanding Exposure (Revised Edition)

What other books would you reccomennd? Please also state why you recommend it. I am looking for books which are a must-read for everyone who would like to get into photography on a higher level.

What kind of photography are you interested in?
Excluding advanced lighting and real-time experience, you can probably find all of this online for free.

my aim is not that I get it for free. I need some reading material for the evenings, interesting books on photography. If you see the two books I mentioned you will understand what I am talking about.

Ok then. What kind of photography are you interested in? Are you interested in making money off photography?

basically any kind of photography, a story of a traveller-photographer can be interesting too where he describes what settings he used in different locations and explains why. For example Bryan Peterson does this in his book about exposures and it quite interesting although he is not a traveller-photographer.

As for your second question it would be good to make money of it of course but that comes later. I have a friend who has been working in this business for more than 30 years so he will help me to get some projects but I want to wait with it.

nice, the best thing is that Kertész András is Hungarian just like me, so I can get the book easily. Thank you for the idea.

Brassai was Hungarian, and is by far one of my favourite photographers. His black and white photography was absolutely stunning.
