Hi everybody!

I've been waiting for this new lens for almost 4 months.

Long story short, I received it last Tuesday, one week late to use it for the contest

Anyway today I went to Milan and had a chance to test it and have fun with it.

I'm gonna show you a short story of my day. All you have to do is to comment and give me suggestions!

Any valid suggestion will be mucho tanto apreciado!

So, to reach the big city I need to take the train. But I also need a car to reach the train station:

Time to go to Milan. It's Sunday morning and the train is pretty much empty:

So I think it's a good idea to ask the driver to let me take a picture from the cab. Permission granted:

Finally we're in Milan. Better take a look at where the tracks end:

But also the station's hall is wide and majestic:

We can now move to the metro and reach the center. Our photo journey ends here.

Yes, that's what I had in mind for the contest, too bad the lens was shipped too late  I would have picked one of these pictures for sure.

I took every picture with my new Tokina 11-16 and my Canon 500D.
I used a tripod for every picture except the last one. The metro picture is a 2 seconds exposure hand held.
I'm simply amazed by this lens's performance. It reaches an incredible sharpness from f/ 8 to f/16.
It suffers a little bit of chromatic abberration in the corners, but it can be easily solved via software and it's understandable for such a short focal length.
Distortion is simply unnoticeable, I haven't touched any picture to correct it.
I'm really happy about this pourchase, now let me know what you think about these pictures!

:P I like the first one since the blurr'd lines lead to a defined focal point. The center beam blocked it in the train shot :(

edit: I wish security wasn't such a big issue here in the states, i'll get my ass tackle'd if i whoop out a tripod in the middle of a train station.

Doing that in grand central in NYC will be a death wish

You should look up some pictures like #1 done by night, looks even way crazier.

Oh about the security thing..

I remember when I was young and all the kids on airplanes were called to the pilot's cabin to see it from the inside and look at all the buttons and stuff. Was so much fun. Imagine that now.. @_@

Milan does have one of the most beautiful stations of Europe btw.

Yup :) Smart forfour FTW. Might look odd but it's an awesome drive, engine and mechanics are gg.

The train cab was too small, and both sides were occupied by a driver.
A picture taken from the driver's seat would have been awesome.
I could have achieved a focal point in the middle of the tracks, letting them look perfectly straight with the blurred background.

I was pretty worried about security too, some cops passed by but no one said a word or even showed to care :)
