So I finally got the courage to get close to one, what do you think?

I had quite a few nice shots so I didn't want for them to all be too similar in places I'd post them so I thought the processing combined with the diptych was a nice treatment for these.

I think insects and flowers live from their colors and contrasts. making it black and white absolutely kills it imO.

I can totally agree with that argument. However I think the "technical" aspects of the photo are good enough. Your focus is good, your dof is good, etc.

That's what was important to me. Any other time I tried to photograph bees they kept moving so those photos didn't turn out as nice as I wished.

Like the first one. Normally I prefer colours for insects and flowers, but in this case not a bad result as adding contrast you got sharper pic. Good job.

Barely did anything though really! I used an action that changed the tones a teeny bit :P
