When I get inside from the cold air into my flat, I always have the problem that my lense (Sigma 17-70 DC) gets some moisture. Is that a huge problem ? can it kill my lens in some time? Basically I take the lens off for a while until the moisture goes away from the surface of the lens. Do you have any tips how to deal with this issue?

Put the lens in a ziploc bag before heading into an area with huge temperature change.

Moisture will lead to molds and fungus which = bad on a lens.

I had this problem every night when I was down in South Carolina, going from the cold air conditioned house out into the hot damp night. I never really found a solution to this other than just let the lens acclimate to the ambient climate.

Eek, what good is the bag going to do? Allow the lens to warm without any extra moisture entering it?

From what I understand the moisture is simply caused by condensing air, which, a bag shouldn't stop. As far as I know anyway.

The air inside the bag acts as a insulator and will slow down the change in temperature thus reducing the effects of condensation. ;)

lving in dubai is really bad for this
everywhere as air-con's and inside is about 23degC yet outside gets to 50degC with 90%+ humidity (in summer)
so if u more from inside to out to take some pics u hav to wait a long time before the lens has de-misted
nothing u can actually do about it

I have heard of people who live in the tropics or wherever that is very humid having a dehumidifier for their camera gears.

I've had moisture on my lenses before, on the outside. It didn't hurt them (so far) but I haven't taken them in and out a whole lot. You can't really help it though.
