quite ok but not that impressive imO. I´ve seen waaaaay more impressive results with the Canon EF 100mm 2,8 L Macro IS USM. I think it´s not necessarily the sharpness that makes the L shots look better, but much more the overall imaging quality of the lens. that includes vibrance, colors and contrasts etc. the 50mm 2.0 macro definately is great aswell tho !!!

Well, for a 4.3 camera result is very good imo.

This is clearly a test run of a new camera and how it handles ISO ... not photos that are meant to impress.

Here's a gecko, taken with this camera's predecessor at iso 100 or 200. http://lifeinstill.zenfolio.com/macro/h33e52238#h33e52238

Yeh, I was gonna say if I was looking to buy a camera and I came across that site I wouldnt even go near that camera in the store.

The photos in that link are a lot better, although even at a low iso some still seem pretty noisy. Not very impressive at all considering the price on this thing.

I get way, way less noise when I crop, and Im just using macro filters on a D5000.

Noise reduction in camera or in post, tends to soften images. Try printing a "noisy" iso 200 crop and you'll be much happier than printing the softer one.

I don't get what the big deal about noise is?

To be honest I havent printed much of anything, I havent had the money.

If I have to Ill do noise reduction, but generally Ill do it on a duplicate layer then erase over the focal so it doesnt get soft.

I dont like it unless I add it on purpose, it makes photos look lq.

Funny, I am always trying to add noise somehow ... especially in B&W stuff. I guess it reminds me of the good old film days.

I personally think cameras should have film presets that you can set in camera when shooting. I'd love to crank out the old Kodak Tri-X, T-max, Portra or HIE ...
