I am considering to buy one as in photokina there has been no news regarding fullframes updates...

I well know them both on the paper but now need an opinion on the field from someone that has used them.

Things I need to know are especially:

Hi ISO performance (1600 to 6400).

AF performance (at least with central spot).

Thank you guys,

Mat

I'm sure one page will give it to you. And I have no doubt he will say 5d over D700.

prendi la d700 per queste due cose
se vuoi file grandi e video prendi canon

From the reviews I have read, the AF on the D700 is hands down better than the 5DII.

haha I see we are in the same boat :D
Well since I already have a few Canon lenses it's really a no brainer for me.

How about you?? What lenses do you have?

If you want to talk about specs, well the D700 has much more advanced AF system and high FPS
while 5D mk2 is perfect for portraits and landscape. If you are rich, I mean filthy rich you should
get both and get a bunch of pro Canon and Nikon lenses to go with them :D
Also the 5D mk2 seems to be the best DSLR video cam on the market with which they have shot
movies and TV series (one of the episodes of House was shot with it)

EDIT:

I am surprised the viewfinder of the D700 only covers 95% of the frame :O

I don't know about you but in the future I do plan on using a FF for portraits and landscape and of course low light high ISO shots
while having a lower end APS-C camera, hopefully a 7D for everything else that way I get the best of both worlds :D

I think he'll say it depends on what you're using it for. he says the mkII is the best wedding camera in the market for its price hands down because of the amazing iso capabilities. Combine that with a fast lens and you're set
