I've been so bad at taking new pics lately, and those I've decided to publish has been rated really low recently, I've seen why when I've been getting criticism and I'm grateful :)

I decided to go back to basics, take photographies of easy targets.
One thing I always wanted to picture was one of those trees you always drive by, that stand alone out in a field or so, I believe I'm not the first person doing this ^_^
The original picture was with a green tree, but that didn't match my vision of this tree being completely alone, so I made a silhouette out of it, the background was already brighter then the tree so I didn't need to do much.

I hope you like it! I certainly do.

And if you don't, please tell me why :)

This picture is uninteresting to me, since it's just a silhouette. Consider adding the sun to create some nice shadows and light sources.

ok I'm far from know the basics, but here's what I would change personally.

You already have it as a silhouette, so no need for any details in the tree.
It's already all black, so you can darken the picture and keep the same silhouette, but you'll add color and detail to the sky, making the background more interesting.
Also, a tree is nice to appreciate as a whole, so try to capture the trunk as well and leave some space under it.
It's ok imo to have the subject, the tree in this case, in the middle of the photo when you want to portrait loneliness in the middle of a field.
You'll get your rule of third with the horizon that will be about 1/3 down in your picture :)
