I still have no idea how to shoot or extract RAW pictures from my camera.
I put the settings for the quality on RAW but the pictures are being saved in jpg on my computer, but in much bigger files.
Seriously you will all either laugh or feel sorry for me...
I feel frustrated for all this waste...

Thinking the L was only for RAW pictures (cause it is written RAW beside it), I was always shooting in M and was getting pictures with files smaller than I used to with my PowerShot.
No wonder I had no trouble uploading them, even if it took time.

So now, I still don't know how to use the RAW feature, but at least my pictures will all be taken with max quality :cry:
I really see a difference..
The mantis was in M, and this grasshopper is in L.
It took all night to upload, and it is now impossible to upload 2 or more pictures at the time, I get an error message cause my connection is too slow :rolleyes:

And yes, I do need a macro lens.....

L = Large sized jpeg (Maxiumum resolution)
M = Medium sized jpeg
S = Small sized jpeg

RAW = Same resolution as "L jpeg" but you get 12 to 14 bits of information instead of 8 bits of information.

I re-read the manual....
But it doesn't say how to obtain the RAW pictures... it just says how to set up the camera for taking RAW pictures...
I know that part now but still can't find them to use them....

Your raw files save in a .cr2 file

which means you need a program that can save in that format.

you can also save in RAW+L which saves a .cr2 (raw) and a .jpg(max quality)

I used to do both, now I just shoot in .cr2 since i use photoshop cs5 and lightroom 3

I always shoot in RAW and then batch convert them to .jpg if I don't feel like using Bridge to go through them.
You can use Photoshop's RAW editor in order to open/edit them

You said that you can't "find" the RAW pictures... When you plug your CF/SD card into your computer, a window will come up asking you what you want to do with the card... select "Open folder to view files"
The RAW pictures should be in there. (.nrw / .nef for Nikon and .crw / .cr2 for Canon)
