Well, I plan to buy this lens later on, but had a few questions...



1) What things should I purchase as well with this lens such as filters, hoods etc?

2) Why does this hood look so WEIRD on this lens? Is it longer because of the whole zoom in/out thing preventing maybe dirt getting inside?

3) I am looking to spend a chunk of money on a nice quality lens. I am looking for quality here not cheap. I also am buying this lens because it seems to be a very nice all-around lens, especially for zooming/portraits etc. This is probably my budget here without going higher. Is there anything else I should take into consideration before making my final decision?

1) Just a UV filter to protect the front element and a hood to guard against glare.

3) If you are spending money on quality/speed/performance/build quality/durability then this is your lens. Just be aware that 24-70 equals roughly 40-110. It's also a great range for full frame if you eventually upgrade in the future.

The only lens hood I know is the one for the sigma 10-20mm.

Not really understanding what you mean when you say 24-70 means 40-110? What does that mean, and why is that? I will eventually upgrade, that's why I went for a full frame lens

If you're buying the L series, it is likely the only lens you need to start making money off your camera. It's sharp (nothing compared to the 70-200LF4 IS though), tough, and one of my favorite lens.

Your next purchase should be the 70-200 L IS F4 (it's ok even for dark venues and it's less expensive than the 2.8 counterpart).

As usual, lithfkn is right: a UV Filter to protect the front element, the hood should hopefully come with ur purchase (don't skip on it - apart from protecting from flares, it is an additional form of protection)

Hood: It's really no different than any other hood.

Remeber that L Series lens should last you for like 20 years, so be prepared to love it for a long time.

The 70-200 f4 isn't that big. Sold one for a 70-200 2.8 MK II (which ofc makes me automatically have the biggest cam-penis in all the photo community)

I do weddings sometimes with just the 24-70.
