I just got my new camera today and went out and took some photos. I'm trying to put them onto my computer now, but why the heck is it taking so long?

My SD card is 200x where my old CF card was 133x. The transfer is going to take about 25 minutes for less then 4GB and 4GB on my old card took about 5 minutes.

What's up with that? Is it just because CF is much faster even though it says otherwise?

How are you transferring it? Straight from the camera or from a card reader?

Try plugging the usb cable into a USB 2.0 port!

I have always used a USB port card reader. I will try to use the cord next time though.

I gave it a go on the cord, it's hardly faster, maybe a minute or two for 100 photos.

Which usb port are you using?

Try using one that is onboard. One that is next to where you plug your mouse/keyboard into.

I'm on a laptop. All I have are internal USB ports. Even the built in card reader is as slow as everything else.

My 133x was 20mb/s and my 200x is 30mb/s, or so it is supposed to be.
