If I do get a new camera and switch to Canon I'm going to want to be able to record HD video this time around.

Which cameras can do it? And which would you recommend?

I don't want to go over $1000 and I'd prefer to spend a lot less, so basically what are my options? I know nothing about Canon other than they make cameras and lenses. :D

Under $1k with video and canon = T2i.

Alot of cinematopher are picking up t2i/ 5DII for videos.

The T1i also does video, right? So why the T2i instead?

And can cost more then $500 extra, I need to know a reason to spend that much more on it.

It uses the newer sensor, I believe the same as the 7D. Higher fps shooting at higher resolutions. I don't remember quite exactly what the difference is. But if you read the review at dpreview, they're pretty in depth. It was a nice upgrade over the t1i.

I checked it, the main upgrades were better shooting for videos and a better metering system.

While Canon T1i can only record 1080p video at 20fps and 720p at 30 fps, Canon T2i can record 1080p video at 24, 25, 30 fps and 720p at 50, 60 fps.

Yep, also better high ISO noise handling. In par with the king of crops- 7D.

I think I may end up selling off my A300, 18-70mm, and my 28-300mm and getting the T2i. I wish I would have just gone with the T1i originally.

I think you will like the T2i. It's a pretty nice upgrade over the A300.
