I think most of us will suggest getting an entry level dslr body... They cost a bit more than your point and shoot cameras, but it is quite a big step up...

I would also recommend a DSLR. This camera seems to be somewhat of a waste of money if you are any bit serious about photography. If you ever plan to print any photos larger than 8x10 you're going to have issues with that camera. Also, since it is a point and shoot your creativity is limited due to the lack of interchangeable lenses, a large sensor, and other features known mostly to DSLRs.

I'd still save up and get a used entry level dslr if new ones are out of your budget.
