I recently purchased a set of Lee 4x6 filters and kit and wanted to test them out in the field. Thought Stone Mountain would be a good place to test it so i set out for it.
Haven't been there before so i didnt' know.. i packed most of my gear with me.. and boy was that a mistake. Hiking up was a test of endurance.. adding 30lb of photography equipment on my back made the trip even more difficult. But i was determined and made it to the top. The few pictures i got was well worth the trip.
Lower half of the mountain. Saw this boulder and the "Tree root steps". It was pretty interesting so i took a snap

This second shot was pretty close to the summit. I shot this with my tokina 11-16 f/2.8. Used a Marumi Super DHG CPL filter that Andrea @ 2filters recommended to take this shot. I hesitated abit before purchasing it since i've never heard of Marumi before, but she assure me that it was a quality CPL and even tied the B+W Kaesemann CPL for 1st place in a test against 24 other brand name CPL filter by lens tip. I'm glad i brought it. This pic was taken with it straight from camera.. absolutely no post-processing except changing the camera profile to Canon Landscape.

Same shot without the CPL but with a 4 stop Hi-tech 4x4 ND filter and 3 stop soft GND filter.

Finally reached the summit. It was worth it after what i saw on top. (Yes, that's me

)

On the way down, i saw this craved into one of the stones.. I thought it was really sweet so i took a pic. It's not really photogenic but i like it.

After i hiked down again, i drove around and found a lake with view of the mountain. Setup my tripod and took a shot. Sucks that the trees block a huge portion of the mountain.

Took this shot here stacking a .9 and 1.2 ND filter. I guess UV light somehow got in when stacking.. but i like the effect nonetheless.
