Just got another Nikon D40 recently so I'm getting back into the DSLR world. Shooting with a 55-200 non-VR. Took a bunch on the "auto" modes (portrait, landscape, etc.). I'm not comfortable using M, S, A, or P yet, I'll get there though.
I'm not focusing on composition right now. Just working on getting to know the camera and shooting with it, getting good focus, etc. It's hard shooting with a 55-200. Gotta back up pretty far so it's annoying.
This very first one is edited using Photoshop. Just simple contrast and brightness levels touched a bit. Rest are untouched originals.

Don't use auto modes. They're shit. Shoot manual.

good start; youve got an eye for composition. Start adding some dynamic lighting to your shots.

I think the best ones are the second picture and the second-from-last picture. The former one has good colors and it is interesting, and the latter... well, I dunno, I just like it better than the other cat pictures.
