So stuck on this decision.
Reading so many reviews that go both ways.

Sell 450D and buy a 50D? Or keep 450D and get new glass (10-22 1.8?)

So stuck on this. Input appreciated.

I was always told that it's the lense that makes the difference...
So imo keep your xsi and upgrade your lenses ;)
That's what i would do anyways :D

Well i personally upgraded from my 450D to a 50D. The ergonomics alone was worth it for me. It's alot more comfortable to use now. The build is alot better. The AF is better, i gain micro-adjustment features, the viewfinder is bigger/ brighter. Roughly 2/3 stops of additional usable ISO and the user interface seems more friendly to me (YMMV).

But then.. it only cost me a little less then $200 to do the upgrade from my Xsi + opteka grip with 1x 16gb, 8gb memory stick to 50D body with canon grip.

If you got no beef with the Xsi, get a new lens. UWA are hella fun.

P.S- You can probably get a 5D classic for roughly the same price or wait a few more months and hope that the 60D is coming.

Don't rush into the decision. Get a 5d II if you are serious about photography. Save up some more and get FF.

Yeah I was thinking this too..
5D MK II could be amazing.

Currently NYC > Car > New camera body...

But a new camera body would be sick to shoot NYC with...
No idea, ugh. Might just get the body, go to NYC with it, car by August ish.

How much do you think is a good amount of cash for a "spending" amount in NYC? (I already paid for hotel, and for the plane tickets etc. Food is not a problem)
Just dunno...

Fuck the car, get the body. You have 50-60 years to play with cars. I fell into the car trap when I was younger. If I didn't I wouldn't be pumping everything I make into photography right now hah :/

Haha. Well I had the sickest car ever, was so fun, but winter hit and it was shit driving in the fuckin snow we had here so I sold it...
Now I'm sol. I think I'll go do NYC with a 450D, get back from NYC and get a car...
Then start workin towards a 5d mk II so I'll have then in Europe/Africa/Antartica in 2011...

^This. I was into cars before too. Total'd it after a year or so of owning it. $40k in the drain overnight. But i do miss my evo :(

Get the camera, cameras and glass can last alot longer then a car can. And it doesn't depreciate much! You may even make money in the long run.

I used to live in NYC for 5 years. If you plan to go anywhere near b&h and adorama. Be ready to spend a shitload there.

But on a more serious note... if you already got hotel/ food/ plane tickets worked out. A $125-$175 a day spending money should be sufficient if you're not making any big purchases.

17-55/2.8 IS

But i really do enjoy my Sigma 30/1.4 for urban walkaround. When i went back to NYC last month on a emergency trip.. I pretty much only used my sigma 30/1.4 and 100/2.8L Macro exclusively.

Thanks, I'm thinking of bringing the 18-55, and then either the 55, or the 28... (18 wide for landscapes etc, 50 or 28 for some portraits of friends and such)
I'll mainly be buying American brand clothing that's not available here in Canada. No camera stuff, I would never buy electronics in a country other than my own, mainly because there's like a $300 limit on taking stuff
over the borders, (not that I can just hide it or something) but if it ever breaks when I get home...how the hell am I gonna drive back to return/refund it lmao. (no b&h/adorama in Canada, well, Calgary at least.)
